WHY BE A MEMBER?
By becoming a member of SkillsUSA you are provided with opportunities to develop into a well rounded person with technical, academic and "employability" skills, the skills that not only help you get a job but also have a successful career. In every chapter meeting, contest, leadership conference and activity, you will be building these skills. You'll also learn how to participate in meetings and become a leader in your school and community.

WHO CAN BECOME A MEMBER?
Any student enrolled in high school or college courses preparing for technical, skilled and service careers can become a member. Our members belong to both the state and national levels of the organization. Your membership is usually through a high school or college affiliation. Ask your instructor if SkillsUSA is available to you.

WHAT WILL IT COST?
Membership for the 2007-2008 school year are as follows:

Membership Dues are to be sent into the National Office by February 2nd.
Student membership - State Dues: $6.00, National Dues: $8.00 = $14.00 per student
Professional membership - State Dues: $6.00, National Dues: $14.00 = $20.00 per advisor

TYPES OF MEMBERSHIP IN SkillsUSA Minnesota

  1. Active High School Membership: Students enrolled in a coherent series of courses or career major that prepared them for further education and / or employment related to technology, the health industry, trades or industry and who are earning credit toward a high school diploma / certificate or its equivalent.
  2. Active College Membership: Students enrolled in a coherent sequence of courses or career major that prepares the student for further education and / or employment related to technology, the health industry, trades or industry and is earning credit toward a diploma / certificate or its equivalent.
  3. Alumni Membership: Former active members who are no longer enrolled in vocational technical education. Alumni members will have all rights and privileges of Active membership except: (a) the right to vote; (b) the right to hold elective offices in the high school division; and (c) the right to participate in SkillsUSA contests. Alumni members will organize and elect their own officers and develop their program for participation in the SkillsUSA programs and activities.
  4. Professional Membership: Persons associated with or participating in the professional development of SkillsUSA, who pay dues as established by SkillsUSA, will be recognized as professional members.
  5. Honorary Life Membership: Individuals who have made significant contributions to the development of SkillsUSA and vocational trade, industrial, technical and health occupations education whose membership has been approved by the National Executive Council upon the recommendations of  SkillsUSA. Minnesota Such membership shall not require payment of dues.
